CashUp AG is a startup founded in 2019, focused on developing and operating the hospitality software “CashUp,” which aims to optimize and simplify accounting, controlling, and booking processes.
The challenge
While digital point-of-sale (POS) systems have significantly optimized hospitality workflows, many accounting tasks remain manual. Despite advancements in POS technology, service staff still generate paper-based end-of-shift reports, documenting sales and accepted payment methods (vouchers, cash, lunch checks, and credit card receipts).
These reports must be manually reviewed and booked by accountants, leading to error-prone and resource-intensive processes. A solution was required to centralize and automate these tasks efficiently.
Our Approach
Digio AG first conducted a deep dive into hospitality accounting, analyzing key processes, stakeholder interests, and major inefficiencies. Collaborating closely with industry experts, we identified pain points and redesigned workflows to maximize automation and minimize human errors.
Together with the client and their extensive knowledge of the hospitality industry, these inefficient and resource-intensive processes were optimized and transformed into digital workflows.
The objective was to ensure an intuitive, error-resistant system that significantly reduced manual intervention while improving financial oversight and control.
Our Solution
A web application called "CashUp" was developed, enabling service staff to enter sales and payment amounts from the POS system. The application actively prevents human errors during entry by verifying calculations in real time. As a result, the service staff is provided with a cash amount, which they submit along with receipts to the accountant for further processing.
The accountant simply verifies the received cash and receipts against the already recorded transactions before automatically transferring the sales and payment records to the accounting system with a single click.
The multi-tenant application allows businesses to configure custom accounting templates, including revenue categories, accepted payment methods, and tipping structures. Additional features, such as detailed revenue statistics, legally compliant receipt archiving, and automated revenue reporting via email, provide further value to all stakeholders.
